The St. Baldrick's Foundation, a non profit organization which helps children affected by cancer, is asking people from Virginia to help Miss Virginia, Tara Wheeler, to reach her fundraising gol of $500,000. As you'll know, the St. Baldrick's foundation hosts head-shaving events all around the world, where many volunteers shave their heads in order to raise money for childhood cancer research. If Miss Virginia will reach her fundraising goal, on April 11, she will shave her head. Of course Tara Wheeler is encouraging everybody to go bald for this vital cause. If every person in Virginia donate at least $1, Miss Virginia will surely go bald on April 11, even surpassing her goal.
A curiosity: St. Baldrick's Foundation has set a fundraising goal of $20 million dollars in 2009. Since 2000, St. Baldrick's has raised more than $60 million dollars by hosting more than 2,200 head shavings events and shaving more than 94,000 heads in 18 countries and 48 U.S. states.
