Chelsea have officially announced that new striker Liam Delap will wear the number 9 shirt next season. The Blues announced the 22-year-old striker last night, moving from Ipswich Town for a fee of £30million, on a contract until 2031.

Delap impressed for the Blues last season, scoring 12 goals in 37 Premier League games.

Only Tammy Abraham and Hernan Crespo have managed to come away from wearing the No.9 at Chelsea with any real credit in the past 20 years. Before that Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and club legend Gianluca Vialli did a fine job.
